Whew! We've been busy this month, and my blogging has really gotten away from me. Imagine that?!? Truth is, Ive been enjoying my family and just haven't wanted to :)
September has been a month of NEW.
Last week Aiden and I started AWANAS at church. They really needed some extra volunteers and with this being Aiden's first time, I thought it would be a great idea for us to do something together. AWANAS is not too familiar to me, so I thought it would be awesome for us to learn together, plus it fixes my "teaching itch". Ainsley and daddy get to spend a couple of hours with each other while we are at church, so it really works out perfectly!
They start off with story time, which is the bible lesson and scripture for that week. It usually involves puppets and a story board which is great fun! After the story, we go into our classroom and the students go to their table which is led by a table leader. Each leader has about 4 kiddos each. (Aiden is not at my table) While the kids are in groups, we work on the memory verse and activity for the week. By doing this, they are working towards earning badges to put on their vest. So cute! Next, is game time. This is usually involves a group stretch and a fun game where the kids can work and interact with each other. Its really fun to see them loosen up and really have fun! After, game time we go down the hall to snack. The workers usually have the tables set when they walk in, and the kids go to a seat and say a prayer. It is so sweet! Aiden has really enjoyed it, and I'm so grateful for christian experiences that he can take part in. He is making lots of sweet friends :)
Another new...in the same week, I started BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). While I am in my women's bible study, the kids go to a bible class as well. It is very structured with a hymn time, story times, snack time, and even a quiet time. My class is made up of about 10-15 young women, all with small children so we can relate to each other quite well. :) Actually, just within our class we have 25ish kids!
With these new activities in the last week or so, we've stayed pretty busy just trying to adjust. I'm SO grateful for our church and the opportunities it provides.
More New....
Aiden: has now learned ALL of his letters and their sounds! Im soooo proud of him! He's so excited about letters. Every where we go, hes pointing out letters and singing their sound songs. He's currently working on putting them together to make words. :)
Ainsley: SO adventurous and clumsy! She's always climbing on something...really anything, and getting into EVERYTHING! We always have new bumps and bruises, but I guess its just that season when they're learning how to do stuff and pushing their boundaries.
