A post completely about my strong-willed, energetic, nonstop-talking, train/car loving, mommas boy!
This little man is such a joy! He is always talking our ears off, and keeps us laughing!
Funnies/Quotes:
- He said his first unassisted, unmemorized prayer last week! We've been talking to him alot about praying and trying to explain that he can pray about anything, anytime. He's always prayed, but its always been a memorized one. One day, at lunch I prayed and said the words "keep daddy safe on his way home". Well, his prayer last night was his usual prayer but then he added (all on his own), "and keep mommy and daddy safe, and Ainsley not to cry". lol! This was so sweet and so unexpected! I, of course, cried :)
- when he's finished brushing his teeth, he gets a drink of water. I go to fill the cup up with a normal amount of pressure and he stops me. He then turns the water back on, but on a low pressure. He tells me he wants it to be like coffee. :) hehe.
- one night he was coughing, so I gave him some medicine explaining that it would help the cough. Just a few seconds after swallowing it, he coughed. He looked at me very seriously, and said "i don't think it worked". :)
- when he toots, he will say "did I just shoot a bunny?" Im pretty sure he got this from Mimi :) He thinks it is the funniest thing ever!
- when he gets tired, he says "I popped a moose". I know this makes no sense to me either! After he said this several times, we asked him where he was hearing this. His reply, "Nonna". You see, my mom has really weired sayings, like "catawompis" meaning crazy or out of sorts. Apparently one day, she had said "I'm pooped a loop" meaning tired. Well, Aiden couldn't exactly remember how it went so he made up his own saying...lol.

A few of Aiden's new interests....
This year for Christmas, we made the transition from "Thomas and Friends" to "Cars". I feel like a scene in the first Toy Story movie where Andy grows up and his interests are all changing. :( cue music.

He is really into playing games. His favorites at the moment, are "Don't Break the Ice", "Hungry Hungry Hippos", and "Elefun". Oh, and of course, hide-n-seek or any racing game. In the mornings when it is time to go get Ainsley, he likes to "line up" and rev our engines to race to her room. :)

A little rainy day fun. He loves to fish.
I absolutely love watching their sibling relationship blossom. They pick on each other SO much but dont' know what to do without each other. |

One day, during their nap time (my quiet time) I hear Aiden over the monitor talking to Ainsley (yes, they are still in the pj's...don't judge). He apparently heard her wake up, and went to chat. I sat and watched from my room for a few minutes and these are the conversations I heard.
"you know that party for that baby boy in his mommy's tummy" (I recently hosted a baby shower for a close friend). "Ya know, when you were in mommy's tummy? I don't want you to go back in Mommy's tummy."
Then the conversation led directly into sharks and how they are carnivores and how that means that eat fish.
After, talking her ear off he then climbed up in her crib where they played. It was the sweetest thing!

| This lil boy will not entertain himself. It doesn' matter if I doing something extremely boring, like laundry or reading, he wants to be right there talking. He loves his momma and always wants to be my helper :) I love my attention seeker, social butterfly! |
 |
| Every night, we have our goodnight shows that we watch. It includes (an occasional) Thomas, Pajanimals, and the Story Train. He always jumps up to dance as soon as the show is over. Brandon and I love sitting back and watching their dance moves! This boy knows how to dance! Ainsley on the other hand, not so much (pretty sure she got my dance moves, haha!). |
 |
| We always talk about how he's going to be our engineer. He is so interested in watching how the wheels move. |

Loves to read! We recently started checking out non-fiction books from the library about every sea creature you can imagine! He's working hard on learning to read. We are working on blending and he loves trying to sound out words.

I can't post about Aiden and not be honest about a few things. As much as I would love to pretend like I have it all together and we're the perfect parents, we're not! I figured that being a retired teacher and having 25, five year olds in my class was enough training, ya right! It is completely different when it is your own child.
Aiden is very strong-willed. He often throws his temper tantrums and they're not pretty. I have never been a huge fan of time out but with my lil attention seeker, Ive succumb to it when needed and believe that for him it often works best. We spank, when called for. We've tried behavior charts, and setting goals. He challenges us daily! With all of that being said, we are a work in progress. He's our guinea pig, and we're learning along with him. :) This is all part of parenting, and I know one day his strong-willed attitude will serve some good.
I wonder if God feels like this when we are stubborn??? Do we challenge Him, as His children?
I can't believe this sweet boy will be 4 in 3 months! Yikes!!!
