Sad Ending....
On our second day at sea world, as we were leaving the park to go back to the hotel, Aiden lost his beloved "bed silkie". My stomach is turning even as I write this (2 weeks later), because he loved it soooooo much! I even wrote a post about it several months back.
It happened like this...
He didn't have it all day until we were about to leave the park. We were waiting for our shuttle and he was getting tired, so I let him pull it out. Brandon remembers seeing Aiden holding it on the bus (he was sitting across from us). We got off at the trolley stop, which is literally right across the street from our hotel. We crossed the street, walked down the sidewalk, and went straight to our room. When we got in the room, I asked Aiden where it was. We were in a hurry to change clothes and go to dinner with friends, so we just figured it was somewhere in the bed (where he had been jumping). We left, thinking we would have to time to look more intently through beds when we returned. After getting back from dinner, and searching the room I told Brandon that we had better go search the sidewalk. He did, and came back with nothing :( That next morning, I called the trolley's and put out a search for it. Since then, I've desperately been calling everyone I could possibly think of! I've called the hotel, the lost and found, the restaurant on the corner, the trolley's customer service, trolley's offices, even sanitation, and the county (to see if anyone picks up the road debre). No luck! My heart breaks for Aiden, because it is something that was so dear to him. I've definitely tried my best, short of just flying back down there to look (which believe me, I've thought of). Surprisingly, he's done okay with it all. We've been pretty busy, with a lot of visitors so that has helped. There has been days where we will ask for it several times, and a day or two where he doesn't. I'm so sad, because it was the last thing that he really held on to since being a baby, and it was very much a part of him. I know it was looking like a rag, but it was his rag :( As a mother, I always knew I would do absolutely anything for my babies. You never want to see them hurting and sad. This is the first thing that I have not been able to "fix" for Aiden. Whenever he does ask for it, we tell him "remember, we can't find it" and his reply is "well, but the people at the building are looking for it". I love his child like faith, in that he knows mommy and daddy will "fix it", and I wish I could more than anything. For sentimental reasons, I just want it back :(
P.S.~ please do not judge my mommy craziness :)
Minus the ending, we had a great trip and cannot wait to go back!
